2008 Domaine Boyar Cabernet Sauvignon

22 Apr

Welcome to a new section in my blog! I’ve decided to start doing little reviews on cheap red wine (and maybe some whites) as I’m starting to discover that some of it is quite palatable. I will point out that I have no idea what I am talking about and know very little about wine. I thought I’d start with this, mainly as a warning that you can go TOO cheap with a bottle of wine.

This particular bottle was a grand total of £1.83 from Tesco. I bought it on the off-chance that it was drinkable.

The smell was a little odd, more like raw unfermented grape than actual wine. I cannot even begin to describe the taste. Absolutely disgusting. We had a glass each, which was mostly poured away. I assumed from the mouthful I had I would have a hangover; thankfully this was not the case. Having kept the other half a bottle to see how it tasted the next day, the only positive thing I can say is that is was slightly less repulsive.

If you are that desperate to waste your money, send it to me instead.
