Evening wines

08 May

Just a quick mention on these as I had guests round so couldn’t really do a proper taste test. That said, I’ve had them both before and will have them again because I enjoy them.

First up was the 2008 Chevalier de Fauvers Merlot Vin de Pays d’Oc, which is £3.99 a bottle from Lidl. I’d chosen it because of the deeper dent at the bottom of the bottle as I’d heard that the depth seems to correlate with the quality. Whether this is true or not, it seems to have paid off in this case.

Next up was Marques de Leon Red Wine, at £3.29 from Tesco. My Dad got me onto this. Normally he won’t touch anything that’s not absolutely foul, as he usually goes for the cheapest thing on the shelf. This time, he has accidentally bought something quite quaffable.

I still have another bottle of each, and will certainly be buying more in the future, so hopefully I’ll get round to adding some tasting notes on these cheap red wines within a week or so.
